The Hidden Power of Beets

Many research studies have shown that Beetroots are one of the best natural sources of Nitric Oxide.

  1. They Improve blood flow to the brain:

    Improve Brain BloodflowSignificant and positive changes in the brain were recorded in a study at Wake Forest University- where they proved that Beetroots boosted Nitric Oxide levels in subjects drinking this red juice elixir.

    After consuming their juice, blood samples were taken, as well as MRI’s done of the participant’s brain. Upon comparison to the test controls who had had none, they discovered that N.O. levels were significantly higher in the blood and the brain scans showed that the blood flow in the brain had increased and improved since drinking their beetroot juice. More surprising was that the areas associated with poor cognition (age-related cognition), were most positively affected!

  2. Athletic performance is Improved in FIT men and women :

    Improved Athletic performanceWhen athletes were given a 5K treadmill time trial to do, preceded by 200g of roasted beetroot and 500mg nitrates, 75 minutes prior to the trial, it was noted that the velocity during the 5k run was faster than the subjects who had ingested a cranberry relish placebo. During the last 1.1 miles of the timed trial, running velocity was faster than their partners who had not had the beetroot juice. Upon subject feedback, there was also a lower perceived rate of exertion at 1.8 miles indicated as opposed to the placebo participants.
